Experience

In High school I tutored middle schoolers within our school system. In college I tutored a student from a local elementary school for a year, and as well tutored organic chemistry for underclassmen at Gonzaga during my senior year of college. I scored a 2000 on the sat (1340) if one is using the old scale, and a 29 on the ACT. Currently I am preparing for the MCAT in hopes to gain admittance to medical school. I tutor because I genuinely love teaching, 8th grade through High school kids. I have two younger brothers (and one older) and I frequently helped them with their homework, and still do from time to time. I love seeing the satisfaction on a student's face when after some honest work, he or she figures out a tough problem or concept. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to help students realize their own potential. As a Biology major at Gonzaga University, along with its core curriculum, I was exposed to several areas of study. Our learning was not unidirectional, but in reality far reaching in regard to the varying classes I took. Specifically I excelled in courses such as biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, statistics, algebra, history, philosophy, public speaking, music, and theology. One thing I would like to point out is I also know what it feels like to fail. I have had my moments where my preparation did not meet the standards for a particular exam or class. However, it was in those failures that I learned how to better myself for the next go around. I have developed a system for success in the classroom, and am eager to share it with others. Not everything has come easy to me, conceptually speaking. Rather, I have had to work quite hard. I am agreeable, and able to get along with almost all people. Understanding that for some students, concepts may take a little extra work, dedication, or a new and creative approach is my best strength. I am up for the challenge.

Hobbies

I am an active guy. I thoroughly enjoy snow skiing, playing basketball, lifting weights, playing guitar, cello, and most recently banjo. In high school I excelled in football and baseball, and was also a state symphony cellist. I was a very active member on Gonzaga's campus in my time there, participating in intramural sports, symphony, and several community service programs. I am always interested in a good discussion, on almost any concept.
